Gordon was such a sweet baby during his newborn session! He slept the entire session! Whoo hoo! This is exactly what I strive for during every newborn session.
I often get asked why doe step baby need to be asleep for their newborn session.
Babies don’t usually corporate and do the naked poses while they are awake. It’s imperative they are in a deep sleep so I am able to pose them in all the naked positions.
Every once in a while, I do get more alert babies. If they let me keep working, I will get some of the awake shots. Gordon once pretty calm and let me get a few. If they are too alert and moving, I will pull out my bag of tricks and soothe the baby back to sleep.
Once the baby is swaddled, they are usually calm and it’s totally fine for them to be awake, as long as they are happy. Happy baby, happy photographer! Hahaha
Once of the most important things to do to have the best possible newborn session, is to follow my Newborn Prep Guide. This is given to all my newborn clients after booking. It’s also highly suggested to have newborns come in for their session between 5-7 das new. After this time period, babies become more alert and sometimes will get that lovely baby acne. :(
All newborn sessions are tentatively scheduled. No need to worry about losing your session if baby comes earlier or later. It’s actually rare when I don’t have to move a session around.
